Apple Releases Mobile Software Update for iOS5

Apple's newest operating system iOS5.0 has already gotten an update. The new system iOS5.0.1 is meant to fix a major battery issue iPhone 4S users have been in an uproar over. The new update also provided fixes to multiple bugs discovered after iOS5's release. Hopefully this quick fix is better than the one meant to fix Antennagate of iPhone 4. The over-the-air update was received by most users on Thursday but plenty of people were voicing issues with the update--specifically an update meant to improve battery life that could not be downloaded by those with less than 50-percent battery remaining on their device. Talk about ironic.

These Are Not People FOR The Occupy Movement

On Tuesday people posing as occupy protestors were caught letting the air out of police tires. When they noticed The Other 99%'s cameraman, Tim, was nearby filming they attacked him. Please do not let people like this influence your decision when it comes to the protestors. As you can tell Tim was explaining that this was not OK and that the movement is all about transparency, something lacking in today's society.

Android Antivirus Software Is Junk

The free Android antivirus software on the app market is not worth the time it takes to download. With the mobile operating system being at the greatest risk of malware, many users download the free protection software in order to protect their mobile devices. According to researchers at AV-test, users would be just as protected without a single protection suite download. While some antivirus software did stand up to the malware test downloads the testing group used, none of the free ones stopped enough malicious downloads to be considered worthwhile.

Probably the Best Wells Fargo Protest

This is for those who read who are supporting the Occupy movement. In Philadelphia Occupy protestors walked into a local Wells Fargo branch and foreclosed on it. The human microphone announcement lays out exactly why the protestors are mad (all of which where very valid reasons to be mad) and what they wanted done.

Video Line-up: Police Violence at Occupy Wall Street Events Around the Country

There has been an enormous amount of police violence around the country from police directed at protestors. In the following videos you will see evidence of the violence being seen on the ground. The first video is from Tuesday morning in New York City. NYPD was violating a court order to allow protestors back into the park. What is extremely sad about the entire incident is the visible attitudes of the officers.

In this clip the first thing you see is an officer on a motorcycle running into protestors on purpose. The video continues where the police push protestors causing many to trip and fall while they are being followed by officers on motorcycles who are not concerned about whether they are running over citizens. At one point a young woman is punched in the face by an officer. 

Of course, we have all heard of Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran who was shot in the face with a bean bag. This video is of that night with graphic images of Scott being carried from the scene by other protestors. Sadly the people who went to his aid where hit with a flash grenade. The police were too busy assaulting protestors to see the damage they caused.

This video, while long, shows the extent to which the NYPD has gone. The video shows officers dragging people off the sidewalk. At one point they grabbed a woman's backpack, pulled it so it wrapped around her neck and then drug her underneath their barricade before arresting her. This is insanity being sanctioned by NYPD and the Department of Homeland Security.

When Will Americans Begin To Believe

As my coverage of this morning's raid on Zuccotti Park is called fiction, I have to wonder what it will take for ordinary Americans to see that this country is quickly becoming a police state. Or better yet what will it take for them to understand that even if they do not agree with the Occupy movement, they should care when the protestor's constitutional rights are being violated because if it can happen to a group this large, it can happen to anyone.




The reports of NYPD officers beating protestors are being verified by pictures from those on the ground. See this one and another one here of the same officer swinging punches at protestors. Mainstream media has even called the NYPD on its Tuesday morning actions. The police department refused to allow press to cover the raid which means the only news coming out of the park was news reported by those in the middle of the event or by people like me who watched it unfold over The Other 99%'s ustream.

The time has come to stand up to those who choose to attempt to take away our rights as American citizens. Supporting the NYPD's actions or the actions of New York's mayor Bloomberg only strengthen them and as such encourage more political figures and police departments to infringe on our rights. Once they take them away, it will require outright war to get them back.

Provacatuers at Occupy Wall Street Deflating Police Tires; Movement Attacked by NYPD

Occupy Wall Street was cleared out of Zuccotti park early Tuesday morning. While officers cleaned out Zuccotti park, thousands of occupiers were blocked at Broadway and Pine. When police removed the barricade, The Other 99%'s video feed showed multiple sanitation trucks being loaded with belongings from the park. So many people where watching the stream that at one point a girl who was interviewed by the cameraman gave her Twitter address and she gained over 1,000 Twitter followers in under a minute. Around 5 a.m. EST, police began lining the streets blocking protestors from crossing Broadway and Pine.

Breaking News: Occupy Wall Street Members Beaten By Police

Occupy Wall Street protestors were beaten by NYPD officers. Protestors being attacked by officers included a small female protestor. A male protestor who got away from the police attack said he was at a loss of words after seeing the police attacking protestors. The gentleman stated that police where telling protestors to cross the street but then were stopped and hit with batons when they tried to cross.

Linux Trojan Attacking Mac OS X

An old Linux Trojan virus has been ported to the Mac OS X and is terrorizing users of the newest Macintosh operating system. "Tsunami," as it has been nicknamed, began circulating the last week of October. This is considered to be the first time old code has been used to unleash a new security threat. The Mac 64-bit version of the Linux virus that dates back to 2002 is extremely similar to the original. Hackers are able to remotely operate the computer to download additional malware and viruses. The worse case scenario with a virus such as Tsunami would be complete collapse of a business' security system executed by remote hackers.

Over the weekend, director Kevin Smith loudly tweeted about his removal from a Southwest Airlines flight due to his weight, leaving the Internet asking the question: Is Kevin Smith too fat to fly?

AMD Laying Off Workers and Canceling Contracts

AMD plans to lay off at least 10 percent of their workers by the end of the first quarter of 2012. The end to approximately 1,400 jobs is a money-saving move for the company. Job reduction is expected across all departments and will affect workers globally. With a less than stellar third quarter posting, the company is scrambling to find ways to reduce their expenses.

AMD's production partner GloblalFoundries is mostly to blame for the company's current predicament, according to InfoWorld. When GlobalFoundries was unable to produce enough Fusion chips, the company quickly saw a downward turn in revenue. The layoffs scheduled over the next five months are projected to save the company approximately $200 million in 2012. While the savings projected looks amazing, the expense restructuring alone will cost the company $105 million by the end of 2012.
